Happy Gut, Happy Life
I’ve struggled a lot with my gut health in the past, and though I’m not perfectly cured, I definitely now know what to do when I need to get my gut in check. I’m much better then I used to be but sometimes life happens, and for me, anxiety and worrying definitely trigger my symptoms. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT and you should definitely see a doctor if your symptoms are consistent, but if you want to know what I take to maintain my gut health, here it is!
If you have any form IBS, I found this to be a great supplement to help relax my stomach when I eat a meal, or just in the morning on an empty stomach before I consume anything. This contains peppermint oil that helps to calm your intestines. If I’m having a bad flare I’ll take two capsules 30 to 90 minutes before every meal until I’m feeling better. I also take this on an empty morning if I’m traveling because my symptoms sometime get triggered when I’m out of my element. These are also great to take before you go out to eat if you aren’t sure if the food you will eat will trigger your gut issues.
This is a great “first step gut health supplement” that I’d highly recommend to anyone looking to take something for their gut. L-Glutamine’s main role is repairing damaged tissue, so if you have had issues with acid reflux or IBS, this will help by strengthening the cell barrier in your gut. I put one scoop in my water every single morning mixed with my Redmond Salt Electrolytes and drink it on an empty stomach.
Pure, 100% aloe juice has so many health benefits- improves gut health, skin health, joint health, blood sugar regulation and is a great source of antioxidants. It helps to reduce any inflammation going on in the intestines. I take 1/4 cup of aloe juice every morning on an empty stomach.
Triphala is a great supplement for people with gut issues to take, especially if you are someone with IBS-C. It helps with regularity by cleansing the colon and promotes metabolic health. I always take these when traveling or if I’m having a flare up of certain symptoms. All you need is 2 capsules and they are okay to take before or after meals.
This is the one thing on this list that I don’t ingest, I only apply it topically. Castor oil as so many benefits and there are so many ways you can use it. It helps to detox the gut and reduces inflammation. If I’m feeling bloated or need a deeper detox, I will sleep with a castor pack and wake up feeling so refreshed. For everyday use, I like to use it at night on my stomach when I do my self-lymphatic drainage massage and also apply it to my lymph nodes. I also put it in my belly button as that is the body’s center and it stimulates digestion.
